Chris Bussmann has been an MMSA board member since 2006. He is a graduate of Concordia College (Moorhead, MN) and earned his Master’s and Administrative degrees from Minnesota State University in Mankato. Chris has been a social studies educator at the middle school and high school level, middle school assistant principal and now Principal in Farmington. Consultant Emphasis Areas: Planning and implementation of middle school concept, Integration of 1 to 1 personal learning devices, Learning Level Transitions from Elementary to Middle to High School, and Master Scheduling. Chris also coordinates the MMSA & Minnesota Twins Perfect Attendance Program.

Lori is currently principal at Roosevelt Elementary School in Willmar, MN. Lori, originally from Fargo, ND began her career as a teacher in the Fargo and West Fargo Public Schools. She worked for the MN Service Cooperatives as well as the MN Dept. of Education before starting her administrative career as a principal in the St. Cloud School District (Lincoln Elem. and Tech High School) and most recently Horizon Middle School in Moorhead. Lori has expertise in data driven school improvement, student academic interventions, positive school climate, and curriculum development and alignment. She holds her Bachelors, Masters and Specialists Degree from MSUM – Moorhead.

Cindy Kucera is a Dean of Students at Highview Middle School in Moundsview School district. Cindy's experiences include teaching special education, serving as a middle school counselor, and dean of students for the past 6 years. She earned a teaching degree in special education and her masters degree in school counseling at the University of St. Cloud. Cindy was awarded the Outstanding Teacher/Citizen award in 2003 for her work in the areas of diversity and community outreach. Jerry had formerly been principal of the Centennial Middle School in Lino Lakes, Minnesota, Faribault Middle School and Redwood Valley Middle School. In each of these positions the middle school philosophy was placed into the school design. Jerry has a broad background in middle level development, scheduling aspects of middle schools and the process of transition to a middle school. Jerry has been on the MMSA board since 1999. Sarah Reif

Sarah Reif started with the board in 2009. She has a Bachelor of Arts degree from Concordia College Moorhead in Communication and a Masters of Education in School Counseling from North Dakota State University Fargo. Sarah has been in the Alexandria School District for 7 years. Discovery serves 7th-9th grade students in the Alexandria area and she works with all grade levels on a rotating system, staying with her class for their entire middle school experience. Along with MMSA, Sarah serves as the Student Council Advisor and also heads up a 9th grade student leadership group. She and her husband, Eddie reside in Alexandria.

Pam has been an MMSA board member since 2011. She teaches American History to 8th graders in North Branch. Pam earned her Bachelor's degree from Hamline University and has a Master's from St. Mary's University in Teaching and Learning with an emphasis on Differentiated Instruction. She is in the process of acquiring certification for Reading instruction as well. She serves as Student Council Advisor, and coaches the Knowledge Bowl and Speech teams for North Branch.

Annette has been a board member since 2010. She teaches Life Science to 7th grade students in Duluth. Annette earned her B.S. in Biology from UW-River Falls and her Masters in Environmental Education from the University of Minnesota - Duluth. She serves as a Student Council Advisor, Newspaper Advisor and Science Fair mentor.

Angi McAndrews
Principal
I.J.Holton Intermediate School, Austin, MN
Angi is new to the MMSA Board in 2015 although not new to the middle level. Angi taught middle school math and science for 11 years in Kasson-Mantorville and supported the exciting Middle School transition with K-M as an administrative intern. Following K-M, Angi joined the Faribault district to work in the areas of curriculum, assessment, school improvement and EL programming, and served as Assistant Principal. In 2016 Angi assumed the role of Principal at the I.J.Holton Intermediate School in Austin, Minnesota. Angi holds a BS from Winona State and MA in Ed Leadership and admin licensure from St. Mary's. Angi is passionate about instructional leadership, student advocacy, best practices for young adolescents, and professional development through social media (follow her @angimcandrews).
