Jon Larson

Jon currently teaches math at Highview Middle School in New Brighton, Minnesota. After 26 years of teaching, Jon says, �I still look forward to each school day.  I enjoy my students, my colleagues, and my work.  Teaching math to middle school students is fulfilling for me, not only for the challenges each day brings, but also because of the great rewards.� MMSA is honored to present Jon Larson with this award!

Dr. Monte Selby has his roots in education as an award winning teacher, principal, and professor. He's co-authored eight books and written over 100 published songs. His comical and insightful music�featured on network television, radio, pod casts, and websites�includes legendary and Grammy-winning musicians, songwriters and producers. Over a thousand performances and presentations have left audiences laughing, singing, and applauding across North America and Europe. Music Row Magazine describes his songs as �a delightful variety� - "funky" - �astonishing� - �Wow�!

Debbie Silver is truly a �teacher�s teacher!� She is an award-winning educator with 30 years experience as a classroom teacher, staff development instructor, and university professor. Her numerous recognitions include being named the 1990 Louisiana State Teacher of the Year and the 2007 Distinguished Alumnus from the College of Education at Louisiana Tech University. Along the way she has taught almost every grade level and most every kind of student.

Dr. Silver has been an invited author for several educational journals and has given keynotes at state, national, and international conferences in 49 states, throughout Canada, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia. She has been a featured teacher for the PBS OnLine Teacher Chat and several online teacher courses. Debbie is the author of the bestselling book, Drumming to the Beat of Different Marchers: Finding the Rhythm for Differentiated Learning. She is co-author of Because You Teach and Middle School Matters. Songs she co-wrote with Monte Selby are featured on his latest CDs. She is married to Dr. Lawrence Silver, and together they have 5 sons.

Debbie is one of the most popular keynoters and in-service presenters in the United States. Audiences everywhere respond to Debbie's use of humor and sensitivity to remind them of how important teachers are in the lives of children. Through research-based theory, poignant stories, and hilarious characterizations she connects with the souls of all who are involved in education.
