The Centennial Middle School was completed
in 1997 on a 55 acre plot at a cost of $35
million. The 265,000 square foot complex was
designed by Armstrong, Torseth, Skold and
Rydeen to house approximately 1800 students
in an environment that emphasizes middle
school design through three wings holding
6th, 7th and 8th grade students. Each of the
wings provide four teams access to special
education resource rooms, science lab and
classroom spaces and technology use to give
students and staff the most current
resources available. In 1999, Learning by
Design, an architectural publication,
awarded Centennial Middle School the Grand
Prize Award as one of the best school
designs in the nation.
